OUR MISSION:
EDUCATE IN ORDER TO EMPOWER
Making Medical Dreams (MMD) is a 501c(3) nonprofit established in January of 2017 , with the mission to uplift and empower the lives of children from challenging backgrounds through funding and supporting their education at every stage. MMD works with both local homeless shelters in the Bay Area, as well as impoverished tribal communities in rural Odisha, India. Our core mission is to have the greatest impact on the most amount of students, and help these economically challenged and deprived students build a future that will empower them and help them escape poverty and other social evils like untouchability, discrimination, oppression, injustice and social exclusion.
DONATEWhen you make a donation to MMD, we use the funds to support educating children, directly benefiting the students. There is no paid staff at MMD, and we don't have our own offices, so your entire contribution goes directly to educating orphans and economically challenged students.
|
SPONSOROur sponsorship program allows for Donors to be introduced to a student and sponsor his or her education exclusively. Sponsoring a child gives them the chance to grow up healthy, educated and safe – forever changing the course of his or her life and future. And you just might find that it changes you, too.
|
EMPOWERMMD combines your monthly support with the support of others to help your child and others — creating a "ripple effect" of positive change in your child's community. MMD sponsored students have earned PhDs and other graduate degrees, work government jobs, and lift their family from poverty.

"GIVE A MAN A FISH, AND YOU FEED HIM FOR A DAY. TEACH A MAN HOW TO FISH AND YOU FEED HIM FOR A LIFETIME"
Making Medical Dreams (MMD) is an educational nonprofit run by high school students and educators around the Bay Area.
The ancient Chinese proverb is at the heart of MMD's mission. For the purpose of increasing global access to education, MMD works to provide an education to students of all ages and grade levels, from secondary school to graduate level programs. There exists a severe and widening discrepancy in access to education, especially in developing countries with high poverty rates. MMD seeks to bridge this gap, by bringing schools, teachers, and curriculum to communities without these resources. It is irrefutable that education is the only way to reverse the oppressive structures of society and foster social mobility. Education is the single most effective way of reducing poverty, reversing oppressive structures of society, and fostering social mobility in developing countries. Access to education has a dual effect, both providing economic opportunities to students to lift them out of poverty, and creating a positive feedback loop of well-educated students enabling the next generation in their communities.
With the proper education a child can become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer with the potential to give back to their community. This potential, that each child possesses, can completely transform the face of any community. MMD’s philosophy is centered on the belief that education is empowerment, and seeks to enable students, metaphorically teaching each to fish and catch their dreams.
